There are many different diets out there. Where do I start? Why does one work for one person and not for another? How come someone can eat cheese and lose weight but I go anywhere near it and gain 5 pounds over night? Ketogenic? Paleo? How do I know what is right for me? This program is designed to eliminate the major trigger foods that create inflammation, see what your body works well off of and what it does not. You will be able to recognize what your triggers are and learn how to build a food plan specifically for you and your needs.
Prime your body to absorb nutrients, revive your energy, fix your metabolism, allow your thyroid to function better, and help with digestive issues.
As an added bonus to the detox is the WEIGHT LOSS that comes from it!
BioIndividual Nutrition is the science and clinical application of nutrition intervention (food and nutrient choices) based on the individual biochemical needs of the unique person.
To determine the best diet for a particular individual, you must consider: digestive capacity, bio-individuality, family history, inflammation, symptoms present, environmental and stress factors, lifestyle, dieting history and hormones. The diet that’s best for one person, may not be right for another. We are not one size fits all people and should not be treated as such. Our dietary and nutritional needs are all different and so is the capacity at which they are absorbed. I specifically tailor each of my client’s diets to help them achieve their goals and resolve their health issues.
There are other things that we need to take into consideration as well:
Each person is uniquely designed and made up with their own DNA. We all get genes from our parents passed down to us. This can be a good thing, or a bad thing. It can increase your chance of developing some of the same problems as your parents have.
The condition of your gut is one of the biggest factors of your health and your metabolism.
If you have an autoimmune disease, diabetes, prediabetes, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, high blood pressure. These all play a major factor in your ability to lose weight.
Cortisol is your fight or flight hormone. Elevated levels of cortisol will cause your body to store fat. God designed us in a great way. He made it so in stressful times, we would still be able to survive.
Sleep habits, exercise habits, drinking, smoking…all of these play a part in things.
Your body is governed by your hormones. They affect our body’s functions, from growth and sexual development and mood to how well we sleep, how we manage stress and how our body breaks down food.
The main detoxification organ. The liver is responsible for ¾ of your thyroid hormone production.
Your liver is responsible for over 500 metabolic functions. When your liver becomes overburdened with toxins, processed foods, medicines, alcohol, sugar, stress hormones, etc…it goes into survival mode.
You want your liver in thriving mode, where it filters out environmental toxins, excessive stress hormones, helps assimilate nutrients and minerals, aids in digestion and blood sugar control, and helps process your macronutrients (fats, carbs, and proteins) efficiently, and controls over 70% of your thyroid function, helping you keep an elevated body temperature and metabolism.
When your liver goes from thriving mode to survival mode, metabolic problems soon follow, such as:
Your master metabolism gland controls your body temperature, metabolism functions, and ability to burn fat.
Your thyroid is your master metabolism gland. Thyroid hormones act on almost every kind of cell in your body to increase cellular activity or metabolism. If there is too much or too little thyroid hormone, the metabolism of your entire body is impacted. Since the thyroid gland regulates metabolism, when it isn’t functioning right, weight gain is inevitable. 80% of your Thyroid hormones are converted into their usable form in the liver. 80%!
Your stress glands. The adrenal glands regulate steroid hormones (for fat loss) and stress hormones, helping balance your metabolism.
Your adrenal glands play a major part in maintaining a healthy metabolism. The hormones your adrenal glands secrete and regulate can either help you balance your hormones in favor of a high metabolism or they can have the opposite effect.
Your habits, food choices, exercise, and lifestyle determine how your adrenals behave. What can cause dysfunctional adrenal glands? Unfortunately, a lot of things: mental/emotional stress, food sensitivities, blood sugar imbalances, infections (i.e. parasitic, bacterial), excessive exercise… basically, anything that is a perceived stress on the body.
On June 1st of this year, I made a decision to make a life change...and life changing it has been! I decided to make this life change to lose weight and to develop some healthy eating habits. What Suzi helped me gain on this journey is so much more. Through this journey, I have learned to listen to my body and understand how my body reacts to food. I have learned to identify and control stressors in my life that have often led me to emotional eating and food cravings no longer dictates my eating. Among the best changes on this journey is that I no longer take naps like I used to! I have so much more energy throughout the day and no longer experience the energy crashes.
I have spent the past 5 years struggling with my weight and accomplishing very little due to some health issues. Within the first week working with Suzi not only did i start losing weight, we started healing my body from the inside out! I still have a ways to go, but it have lost over 30lbs in the process. From her impressive knowledge to the accountability she is there every step of the way lifting me up (or smacking the cake out of my hand) to help me be the best version of myself. Suzi has truly been my angel and I am so thankful to have her in my corner!"
